Comfortable slavery is preferable to hard-fought-and-won freedom?
Sounds like a matter of preference. How about if we give people the option for comfortable slavery or to work really hard to earn freedom.
Every person who has a Meta app installed: “YES”
At some point, we all got to ask ourselves, “is it worth for me to partake in society and abide by its rules?”
It’s a simple calculation really. If the deal is not good enough, you can always walk away from it. Theoretically.
In practice. You’re screwed. Trying to not participate will most likely get you sent to a work camp.
Taking decision for your life looks scary and confusing if you don’t have the right instruments to do so. Things like “critical thinking”, "logic " and “social awareness” require time and an appropriate educational system…
…
… anyway, we’re screwed.
A security camera on every corner may infringe on your rights but it also helps massively in fighting crime. You can go down the path of insecure freedom, or captive security. More safety, or more freedom. Some will value one over the other.
This is a false dichotomy. Like, a blatant one
A cemra does not fight crime. It just might make it easier to identify the criminal.
The main purpose of cameras is to control people, and the fight against crime is secondary.
