I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.
“If you don’t support Russia then you just don’t understand geopolitics” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415
And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long.
I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.
So it’s an issue with crosspost function and moderation. Maybe you should take it to the Lemmy devs. You know, the ones that run .ml instance and pretend it’s general use.
The word “tankies” originally was coined to describe people from the West who approve of Soviet Union so much they’ve supported and defended Soviets’ crushing leftist uprising in Hungary with actual tanks for the sin of wanting to be independent.
Since then, the term has expanded to include people who lionize Soviet Union, modern Russia, China and DPRK to the degree that they blindly support anything those countries’ governments say and deny anything that might paint them in a bad light (like Holodomor, Tiananmen square massacre, current Russian invasion of Ukraine, Uyghur “re-education” camps, DPRK’s many crimes against humanity and so on) while still describing themselves as left-wing. Lemmy.ml, lemmygrad and hexbear are prominent Lemmy instances that are run by tankies.
I have no idea what’s in their heads. Some might be wildly misinformed, some might genuinely believe this. Some might be trolls. Some just hate the West (or the US in particular) and so to them whoever is against their enemies is their ally.
It sometimes gets ridiculous like openly transgender leftists defending authoritarian Islamic regimes where they would be instantly imprisoned, tortured and killed.
Welcome to the internet, I hope you have a good time here. Nobody is obligated to understand others’ situations, especially with no prior interaction with you, and you don’t get to gatekeep content you post openly online or control how it’s shared.
If you’re being banned by mods who don’t take the time to check timestamps to verify you’re posting OC, that sucks, but who cares if you’re banned from an instance or platform that’s moderated by someone who’s “too blind in the brain to see the truth.”? Is the fact that your meme is being shared by others and enjoyed not enough of a dopamine hit? Do you really need to be able to spread them yourself through platforms/instances that are moderated so poorly? If you’re that concerned about it, you can always add some sort of watermark. That’s an easy way to link it back to you. There’s no point in trying to police the actions of strangers on the internet, you stand no chance.

to be fair, if someone asks you to stop it’s an asshole move to ignore them.
Stop making comments, thanks.
Saved as a screenshot - nice.
Lmao get over yourself, what a ridiculous thing to say.
Quick, someone go tell on OP, they copied this commenter’s meme from another instance! We need an adult over here! Mods!
Just post to non-tankie instances then

cm0002 literally left you an essay on what’s wrong with .ml and why he does what he does

Well, since you’ve asked:

For what they’re saying this political things?

Somebody call the cops!
