I quite enjoy going to the movies, along with a meal it’s a great way to spend an evening with friends. Can’t wait to see the new spinal tap film coming out.

I never got how this is “spending an evening with friends”. You’re watching a movie, each of you, individually. There’s no interaction at all (at least if you’re not one of those dipshits that try their hardest to ruin the movie for everyone else). How is this in any way comparable to eating together or even just existing on a park bench?

I certainly don’t discuss the movie after and enjoy the shared immediate experience of the details being fresh of a movie that none of you had seen before. All these decades of people watching movies together just don’t make any sense… 🙄

Exactly. I haven’t done a movie outing in a long time, but the after-movie discussions with one or more people is always the best part, while it’s fresh in your minds. You can do the same online, and it’s great too, but it doesn’t have the same “rush”.
